A unique treasure in Lübeck
Our Museum of Theatre Puppets is a gem in the historic center of Lübeck. Learn more about us here!
Our vision and mission are defined by our goals, values and principles which we put into practice by means of various projects, events and cooperations.
Fritz Fey jun. opened the Puppentheater Museum Lübeck (Museum of Puppets) in 1982. Since then, the collection and also the museum building have grown in size continually. The museum was given its new name 23 years later.
Our museum is equipped with more than 1,000 exhibits from Fritz Fey’s collection and thus is a truly one of a kind treasure trove in the world of puppetry.
In 2010, Fritz Fey’s inventory was documented for the first time. Every exhibit was photographed and assigned a number. You can inspect the inventory on its own web page.
Eight citizens of Lübeck established the booster club TheaterFiguren im Kolk e.V. in order to promote the museum and the puppet theatre.
Our museum is part of a network of regional and trans-regional partners. Together, we organise exhibitions and other projects.
Thanks to our sponsors, we were able to make many projects happen and to buy new exhibits as well. A big thank you goes to all of the institutions, foundations, clubs and individuals who support our work!
Our building is a location with a long history. Five historic merchants’ houses have been merged into one single building. One of them is one of the narrowest houses in Lübeck.
